Fred is a strategic business leader with more than 40 years of experience across all aspects of healthcare, mostly as an executive and consultant. He has expertise in operational improvement, materials management, distribution, strategic leadership and establishment of key corporate customer relationships. He is a frequent author and public speaker. Fred joined Optimé in December 2012.
Previously, he worked for five years at the ECRI Institute of Plymouth Meeting, Pa., serving as area vice president for the North and East and then director of national accounts. In the latter role he rebuilt relationships with the national GPOs and established new relationships with several key industry organizations, including the Council of Supply Chain Executives, the IDN Summit and Strategic Marketplace Initiatives.
He began his healthcare career with the U.S. Navy Hospital Corps and served a tour of duty as a field medic with the Marines in Vietnam.
Since then he has piled up decades of management experience in healthcare supply chain positions, ranging from small community hospitals to large IDNs to three major GPOs. He has been a consultant and manager for four major healthcare supply chain consulting groups.
Fred received his MBA in 1988 from Kent State University in Ohio and a BA in history in 1972 from the University of Miami. He is based in Davenport, Iowa.
